Coll & the Cosmos
2/3 March 2024 & 2/3 November 2024

Coll & The Cosmos is a stargazing weekend break on the Isle of Coll that makes the most of the island’s incredible dark skies. The break has been specifically designed to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. No prior knowledge of astronomy is needed; we'll bring you the best of the night sky in a way that is fun and easily understandable.

Coll & The Cosmos is a collaboration between Coll Bunkhouse and Cosmos Planetarium. We use state of the art technology to deliver an amazing stargazing learning experience in a fantastic location.

No other stargazing short break in the UK offers as wide a range of astronomical equipment (up to 18" telescopes), practical hands on instruction in using telescopes and developing observing techniques. All combined with the awesome experience of time inside our fully digital, cinematic, immersive planetarium.
Please note spaces are limited, to book call now on 01879 230217 (Coll Bunkhouse)

Cosmos Space Academy 'Family Friendly Stargazing' New Dates TBA
A family version of our popular stargazing short breaks, running during school holidays, suitable for all ages. Millions of children will never have the opportunity to see the Milky Way with their own eyes due to light pollution. You can on Coll! The bright band of the Milky Way is easily visible along with many other amazing celestial objects from comets to far flung galaxies. Join us on a voyage of discovery.

Additional Astronomy Outreach

Picture
As well as offering our mobile planetarium shows, we can also include solar observing during the day and planetary/deep sky observing in the evening.  If you are looking for something extra to add a WOW factor then this is for you. We have a wide range of telescopes that we can bring to your event.

We also believe in astronomy for all and know it can be difficult for younger children, people with disabilities or mobility issues to observe through a telescope eyepiece. The solution is video astronomy - we have dedicated CCD cameras (colour and mono) that can feed a near live view to laptops, monitors and even projected into the planetarium itself (in some circumstances). So the same stunning views of the night sky can be seen by all.
